The foundation of the 1 week retreat will be Conscious Connected Breathwork, which will be lovingly supported by Yoga Asana, Pranayama and other breathing techniques, Intuitive Movement, Authentic Relating, Affirmation work, Meditation and Cocoa.

 

This combination of modalities will provide an integral and safe container in which to face feelings and emotions which may have been hidden for an entire life. 

 

As stagnant energies start to move, our breath deepens and the layers of conditioning start to drop away to reveal the truth of who we are. We become true observers as we watch and allow life to move through us without restriction. Softening, opening, expanding into being…

Mid March welcomes the spring and invites us to take important time, to reconnect and go within. To detoxify body and mind to allow our blossoms to bloom and spirits to shine…

 

The mountain area of Monchique, South of Portugal, with stunning views just 30km from the Algarve coast will be our home for 7 days and 7 nights.  

A perfect place to take a step back and gain another perspective. To feel what needs to be felt and heal what is ready to heal.

There will also be opportunities to take in breathtaking views on one of many hiking trails surrounding the retreat centre, Bodhi Bhavan, and also experience the benefits of cold water swimming & breathing.

Bodhi Bhavan provides simple, private yet elegant bedrooms each fitted with identical features such as memory foam mattresses and ensuite bathrooms. 

There are two room categories as rooms are slightly differing in either size, view or private terrace; four rooms having seperate entrances from outside. 

There are three options for booking. 

Single Occupancy €1,350

Shared A- Double Occupancy €1,150

Shared B- Double €990

Accomodation facilitates for 15 people depending on double or single room bookings. A 50% non refundable deposit is to be made to secure your place. The remaining amount can be paid before or at the start of the retreat. Payment plans can also be arranged after the initial deposit.

 

Payments can be made via PayPal, Revolut or Bank Transfer.

 As we will be going through a big physical, mental and emotional  detox through the breathwork practices, it is important to be keeping the meals light and healthy. A vegetarian menu will be served twice a day with tea with snacks and juices served around brunch and dinner times.

Any specific dietary requirements can be noted upon registration.

Below is an example of 3 of the retreat days. Some slots may change depending.  

Check in at Bodhi Bhavan is at 4:30pm on Saturday the 18th and

Check out 10:30am the following Saturday 25th March.

 

The schedule will be filled with a range of  modalities to enhance and assist our Breathwork Journeys.  There will also be plenty of time to relax and enjoy the surroundings with one day off in the middle of the week for exploration. 

It is not required to attend every session however to get the maximum benefit and to maintain group dynamics joining for all the sessions is encouraged. 

Phones and computers  should be kept in rooms throughout the day and used minimally in order to stay with focused and immersed with the practices. Please factor this is as your prepare for the week.

getting there

Bodhi Bhavan Retreat Centre is situated in Monchique in the Serra de Monchique, in the Faro district of southern Portugals Algarve Province. 

The closest airport is Faro Airport at 61km away or Lisbon Airport 169km away. For anyone driving from the Costa del Sol, factor in around a 5.5 hour drive. 

There are various bus connections from 

  • Lagos - 56km - 2.5hr bus journey 

  • Faro - 109km - 3.5hr bus journey 

  • Lisbon - 260km - No direct bus (travel first to Portimão then change over) 

The best option would be to have a car to be able to fully take in the stunning coastline and breath taking beaches either side of the retreat start and during free time. 

Should you have any questions about transport and getting there, we are more than happy to help you figure out a plan. Taxis can be arranged,  taking note that all travel expenses are not part of the retreat cost.

what to bring

Mid March temperatures in the mountains of Portugal can range anywhere from 7 -23 degrees.  There is always a possibility of rain so make sure to be prepared. 

  • Active-wear and comfortable loose fitting clothing for yoga and breathwork sessions

  • Warm clothing for early mornings and evenings and short breathable clothing for sunnier days

  • Trainers or well gripped hiking boots for walks

  • Rain Jacket 

  • Flip Flops or slippers 

  • Warm socks 

  • Swim suit​​​

  • Towel 

  • Personal toiletries

  • Sun screen​​

  • Refillable Water Bottle 

  • A photo of you as a child 

  • A special outfit for our last night

Zarah is a highly experienced Yoga Teacher specialising in Pranayama and Breathwork. She has been teaching classes, workshops and retreats to people of all backgrounds, abilities and ages and walks of life for over 12 years taking her from London to Australia to India, Mexico, Portugal, Germany and Spain.
